Dylan Koontz is a 2021 3B/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Huntersville, NC who attends William Amos Hough. Big and strong athletic build. 7.16 runner in the sixty. Good fundamentals in the infield on defense, gets low behind the ball and works behind the ball, has soft hands out front with good glove work, shows some carry on his throws when he gets on top and is comfortable throwing from lower slots, will be solid on defense at third base at the next level. Left handed hitter, hits from a wide stance with a high hand load, aggressive move into contact with his lower half, lots of variables in his present swing to work through, has the strength to impact the ball and projects power in the future. Took a turn on the mound and has a chance as a two-way player at the next level. Arm is loose and easy from a low 3/4's arm slot that creates some deception. Fastball topped out at 87 mph, has been up to 90 mph in the past, gets nice heavy sinking action and pounds the bottom of the zone consistently. Kept his arm speed up well on his slider from the same lower arm slot. Also throws a change up. Solid all around player. Good student, signed with Campbell. Named to the World Showcase Top Prospect List.
