Nate Beal is a 2020 RHP/3B, SS with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Reisterstown, MD who attends Loyola-Blakefield. Physical presence with good size and physical projection. Primary righthanded pitcher, sets up on third base side of the rubber, starts windup with a side step to a high leg lift, compact arm action up to a high 3/4 slot, good hip turn staying online to the plate, arm is mostly on time through the circle, should work on maintaining release point for more consistent command, gets out over front foot well, sits on back leg at top of mound getting good use of lower half, good arm speed with max effort at release. Fastball topped out at 85 mph with armside life, mixed in a tight slider in the mid-70s, interesting arm to follow moving forward. Also took reps in the infield, high fielding position with developing hands, takes extra steps into release, good arm strength topping out at 87 mph across the diamond. Righthanded hitter, slightly open stance with a high hand set and a high back elbow, simple shift into contact but tends to get too wide with stride, linear path to contact with some lift, looks to pull. Excellent student. Named to 2018 Northeast Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
