James Perkins is a 2025 LHP/1B with a 6-3 210 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends John F Kennedy. Extra-large frame with long levers and projection remaining. Primary left-handed pitcher, works from a full wind-up delivery with a belt-high leg lift. Breaks the hands at the chest and into a shallow arm path. Releases the ball from an over-the-top slot. Creates some whip to the arm before working over his front-side. Fastball had heavy life to it with some natural cut, ultimately peaking at 81 mph. Mixed in a 12-6 curveball with hard bite to mistime barrels. Projects for an uptick in velocity with mechanical refinement and additional strength. Secondary first baseman, works through the baseball at a deliberate pace. Showcased developing range and athleticism with some softness in the hands. Delivered accurate throws across the diamond while recording arm strength up to 80 mph. Left-handed hitter, starts in a wider stance with a high back elbow. Utilities a knee-to-knee load for timing before working into a long and flat bat path. Drops the hands during the loading phase and attempts to generate carry at impact. Displayed developing barrel control and consistency. Has present strength in the hands. Posted an exit velocity of 88 mph. Ran a 7.70 sixty-yard dash. Excellent student.
