Landen Whitman is a 2025 C/1B, 3B with a 6-1 186 lb. frame from Cartersville, GA who attends Cartersville. Large, athletic frame with present strength on build, additional room to grow and develop moving forward. Ran an 8.08 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set behind the plate, receives the ball out front and gets it out of glove well, simple turn out of crouch into release and can incorporate additional lower half and footwork, strides open with front foot at times, shorter arm action on throws. Wide base fielding the ball out front, long arm action through the back, works to a higher slot on throws, shows some accuracy on throws across diamond. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, leg lift up past belt with gather on backside, drop and drive lower half mechanics, longer but on line arm action working to a high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 72 mph, worked around the zone and shows a similar release on curveball, shape of pitched developed as he threw it, worked it up to 65 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even stance and a lower hand set at start; pulls hands back at start of swing but remains shorter to the ball with stroke. Works on a linear path through the zone, shows jump off the barrel when squared with occasional lift out front. Comfort working to pull side gap, utilizes a short stride into contact, will unlock additional strength with more lower half incorporated into swing and weight shift.
