Chad Pierce is a 2006 catcher/right handed pitcher from Fond du Lac, WI with a muscular build at 6-1, 202 lbs. He has very high level defensive tools behind the plate, with top notch arm strength at 81 mph, soft hands and quick feet. Pierce shifts very well behind the plate and will just keep improving as he works with more top level pitchers. His best pop time was 1.87 and his throws were accurate. At the plate, Pierce gets his weight moving forward early and is a front foot hitter. He does a very good job with the bat head and makes consistent hard contact to all fields. He has the strength and bat speed to drive the ball out of the park as he adjusts his approach and his balance. His defense is a bit ahead of his offense at this point but he has the potential to be an impact player with the bat as well. Pierce also pitched some at the showcase and hit 86 mph with a 72 mph curveball. Pierce is an excellent student and a top level catching prospect.
