James Gil is a 2027 SS/RHP/OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Sunrise, FL who attends Home School. Long and lean athletic build with wiry strength, more to come in terms of physical strength. 6.87 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has outstanding hands with some quickness and a solid glove exchange. Moves well laterally while fielding, plays low with excellent footwork and some flare. Strong, accurate arm with carry on throws, above-average actions at the position. Right handed hitter, sets up narrow with a high hand load, utilizing a hovering leg lift as a timing device. There's present bat speed, barrel accuracy, and Gil shows the ability to manipulate his compact swing. Hit extremely well during BP and in-game. Also pitches, fastball sits in the mid-80's with ride and cut, commands it well. To mix, Gil spins a low-70's curveball with 11-5 depth. Good student. Named to the PG National Underclass Showcase-Main Event Top Prospect List.
