Amari Allen is a 2023 LHP/1B with a 6-4 205 lb. frame from Washington, DC who attends Sherwood. Extra-large, broad shouldered frame with present strength throughout. Primary left-handed pitcher, full hands over head pump at start of delivery, leg lift up to belt, gets taller on backside, shorter arm action through the back working to an extended three-quarters release point. Some effort at release, creates angle out of hand and topped out at 87 mph, showed the ability to get in on the hands of right-handed hitters while showing some short running life to arm side. Fastball comes out cleanly, short life to slider up to 79 mph, occasionally gets under the slider. Short stride down the mound and can continue to implement additional lower half into drive down mound. Picked the ball well at first base, fields the ball out front with two hands, longer arm action on throws across with a lower slot. Left-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, upper body swing and can get additional lower half going. Hits the ball out front, strength to hands and barrel, generates big jump off of the barrel when squared out to pull side. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Wake Forest.
