2006 Nor Cal Underclass Showcase
Chris Garrison is a 2008 OF/P/SS/3B/OF with a 6'4'', 180 lb. frame from Rocklin CA, who attends Rocklin HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event (pitcher). Garrison has a lot of positions listed in his profile, but at this event, he stood out on the mound, which not to take away anything from him as a position player. He has a long, lanky, rangy, absolutely projectable pitcher's body. His arm is loose and the ball comes out of his hand easily, with pretty minimal effort. Garrison gets good fronside extension, adding late life to his pitches. His 83-84 mph fastball has good run and life and he really spun his 12/6ish curveball well (70 mph). He gets late action on the curveball too. It is not a stretch to consider Garrison sitting in the upper 80s by the end of he coming summer. As a hitter he employs a pullside appoach and showed good power potential to that side, with more coming in the future. He has good hands that are quite strong. He is a corner type outfielder with an arm that will keep developing. It carries well now and he is accurate. D1 programs should follow him and it is likely that Garrison will emerge as a pro prospect in due time as well.
