Joseph Fredericks is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 5-9 185 lb. frame from Chesapeake, VA who attends Atlantic Shores Christian. Barrel chested athletic build. Big back turn delivery on the mound with a high leg raise, hides the ball well in back, low 3/4's arm slot, really creates angle to the plate. Fastball worked in the upper 80's, gets outstanding run and sink at times, works mostly to the arm side with his fastball. Change up was a nice pitch, throws with good arm speed and late sinking action. Gets tight spin on his sweeping curveball, tends to miss arm side or low with the pitch, would be more effective with more power/velocity on his breaking ball. Very life arm and a tough at-bat for hitters at any level. Very good overall athlete, ran the sixty in 6.87 and showed his arm strength well from the outfield. Left handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with a curled lower half load, uncurls well and gets into his strong lower half, flashed big power and carry to the pull side. Excellent student, verbal commitment to West Virginia. Named to the Sunshine Mid-South Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
