2021 13U/14U Sunshine Rocky Mountain Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Jacob Mongar is a 2025 RHP/MIF with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Sioux Falls, SD who attends Roosevelt. medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, begins with a smooth knee raise up to chest at start of delivery, works on line and towards the plate well, some drop and drive to lower half mechanics. Compact and quick arm action through the back, shows looseness working to a three-quarters release point; fastball topped out at 79 mph, shows some running life to the arm side out of hand and worked ahead in the count early on. Slider shows nice shape to it up to 65 mph and mixed in a bigger curveball with 11-5 shape at 62 mph as well. Similar compact arm stroke on throws across the infield, occasionally gets mistimed with release, hands work at the ball out front and shows some carry on throws across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open and balanced stance, utilizes an abbreviated leg lift for a timing mechanism. Nice rhythm to hands in the load, shows present bat speed through the zone with some loft out front at the point of contact. Repeats swing and shows a clean path, shifts into contact well and projects with added strength. Excellent student. Named to 13u/14u Rocky Mountain Top Prospect List.
