2022 Sunshine East Showcase
Maycol Gonzalez is a 2024 LHP/OF with a 5-11 164 lb. frame from Caguas, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Ran a 7.46 second sixty. Primary left-handed pitcher with a medium build. Worked from the stretch only with a long arm action getting to a high three-quarters arm slot with good extension out front at times. The fastball sat 71-75 mph with more to come as he gets into the lower half with better direction and drove to the plate. Mixed in a bigger curveball in the low 60's with consistent hand speed to the fastball. Has a fine approach in the outfield fielding the ball on the side and getting the ball out on time with some more arm strength than he showed on the mound as the momentum carries into the throws. Left-handed hitter, starts balanced with an even stance. Uses a toe tap trigger with the bat path attacking the inside part of the ball with flashes of barrel speed using the middle of the field at his best. Very good student.
