2024 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Jack McKellar is a 2026 C/UT with a 6-0 200 lb. frame from Rocky Mount, NC who attends Rocky Mount. Strong athletic build, especially in the lower half, knows his way around the weight room. 6.96 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up one knee down, moves athletically and has athletic quickness, gets rid of the ball quickly and makes strong on line throws, repeated his footwork well. Left handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with good hip rotation in his swing, loads his hands high and tight, creates leverage in his swing, stays on time well, has big juice and good right center field carry. Also pitched, works from the stretch with a high leg raise start, gets down the mound with lots of extension and a high 3/4's arm slot, low effort mechanics. Primary fastball thrower, sat in the mid-80's and threw strikes. Mixed in a short slider and a straight change up later in his performance. Nice profile as a strong armed left-handed hitting catcher with juice. Excellent student.
