2024 High School All State Select Championship (2027-2028 Grads)
Matiss Tyree is a 2027 RHP/3B/SS with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Kalamazoo, MI who attends Otsego. Features a tall high-waisted build with plenty of room to add. Ran a 7.17 60-yd dash. In the INF, showed quality actions. Intent to work through the baseball but did it within some stutter step footwork. Glove actions were solid showing clean and out front reception to both sides. A bit tall/upright at times but didn't hinder fielding ability. Extra shuffle before working to release where he used a longer arm action that got off 50/50 accurate throws across with avg. strength. At the plate, he sits in a wider base and uses a smaller stride but glides forward. Flashed above avg. bat speed but path worked more direct producing a majority of GBs throughout his round. Best results were when he caught it a bit more out front and barreled some LDs through the middle of the field. Decent overall feel for the barrel. On the mound, showed a solid operation and decent stuff. Uses a mid-chest knee lift and comes down with some decent engagement in his driveleg. Slight push off the rubber where he lands on-line with a taller upper-half finish and a decent lower-half block. Arm worked more hand-lead out the glove for a longer path to a slight stab and got back up to release out of lower 3/4 slot. He ran the FB up to 82 that exhibited some natural running action. Mixed in a low 70s SL that produced several whiffs during his outing due to its shorter/depthy shape that allowed it to tunnel well off the FB. Excellent student. Named to the High School All-State Select Championship Top Prospect List.
