Tanner Schobel is a 2020 SS/RHP, MIF with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Williamsburg, VA who attends Walsingham Academy Upper School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build, has present strength and additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.06 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet with longer strides to either side showing range, hands play nicely at the ball out front and funnels cleanly into body, extra step through release, gets on top of throws and shows carry across the diamond with present arm strength. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance and a medium hand set; moving parts to lower half load occasionally gets mistimed, shows quickness to hands and looks to create contact out front. Stays loose with swing and creates bat speed through the zone, gets on plane well and stays linear through the zone. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Virginia Tech.
