Cooper Thacker is a 2019 SS/RHP/OF with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Ellettsville, IN who attends Edgewood HS. Large frame with broad-shouldered projection; good present strength. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.67 seconds. Sets up to hit from upright, narrow-based stance with high hand set, leg lift trigger, sinks hips into swing moderately well, middle-field approach on a line drive plane. Showed ability to jump the ball on a line at times, did a fair job of working to all fields, showed some loft to stroke at times. Worked out in two spots. Showed solid fielding actions in the infield with good physicality, winds up and shows solid arm strength with varying accuracy, clocked up to 82 mph across. Also worked in OF, short steps to the ball with some balance, arm strength up to 84 mph. Also pitched, simple and easy delivery, three quarters slot release with some looseness to arm, fastball worked 78-81 mph with flashes of arm side life when commanded down in zone. Showed solid feel for his slider, good sharpness with tilting shape, did a good job filling up the strike zone with both pitches. Named to 2017 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List; good student.
