2025 Canes Baseball End of Summer Organizational Showcase
Liam Purcell is a 2026 3B/RHP/1B with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Central, SC who attends D W Daniel. Tall and athletic build with good present strength and more to come. 7.18 runner in the sixty. Primary third baseman on defense who has potential as a two-way prospect on the mound. Deliberate mover on the clay playing a bit high in his legs but shows accurate glove work with firmer action. The arm really plays here, generating accurate feeds across the diamond up to 88 mph and handled the slow roller play at a high level. Secondary RHP, working from a full windup on the 3B side of the rubber and using belly high leg lift to gather. Good mover here with athletic, repeatable delivery using a medium inline arm path before accelerating through a quick low 3/4 arm angle. Nice mechanical adjustment during outing and saw a jump in velocity immediately. Heavy riding FB up to 88 mph and sitting in the mid-to-upper 80s with 2,250+ rpms. Hard slider up to 80 mph with tight, late biting action and real changeup with a lot of action showing contact deadening spin. RHH, working from a medium and upright start, and lower hands out over the plate. Gets full turn in the torso, smoking balls out over the plate, nicely inside the ball with low liners gap to gap. Good bat path with strong hands and present bat speed. Outstanding student who is also and excellent two-way talent.
