Austin Dean is a 2025 LHP/1B with a 6-8 235 lb. frame from Alexandria, VA who attends West Potomac HS. Recorded a 7.53 second 60-yard dash time. Extra large frame and build with physicality throughout and room for additional projection. Primary left-handed pitcher who throws exclusively from the stretch. Leg lift up to the belt and has a full arm stroke through the back with a high three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 91 mph and lived in the upper-80s. Fastball flashed some good carry and ride up in the zone peaking at 20" IVB. Mixed in a shorter cutter in the mid-80s. Slider shows good bend and bite to it and can land the pitch for strikes. Firmer mid-80s changeup with good arm side life to it. Stuff is potent and deadly when located in the strike zone for in-zone whiffs. Left-handed hitter with a level path and flashes of some pull side power. Good student. Verbal commitment to Virginia Tech.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
