Cruz Chavez is a 2028 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Lakewood, CO who attends J. K. Mullen. Athletic young build with some compact strength to continue to build on. Primary shortstop on defense, has some bounce in his lower half and works to and through the ball well, solid arm strength with carry on his throws from a loose and projectable arm action, solid overall actions. 4.89 runner in the forty. Right handed hitter, even base with open feet, high hands and a high back elbow, small hand load, small lift and stride, level path to contact, has some hand speed, simple swing and will improve as he continues to get stronger. Right-handed pitcher, athletic mover and stretch only, operation, belt high leg lift, stabs in the back some, some downhill angle and cut to the fastball, developing curveball, three-quarters slot release, has some hand speed. Good shortstop actions and the bat will continue to improve. Very good student. Named to the Colorado Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
