Matthew Luchi is a 2029 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Marlboro, NJ who attends Ranney. Lean young build with lots of time and room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, sets up in a narrow stance with a tight hand load and a short leg raise timer, well controlled load and stride, has quick and strong hands, pull to mid field contact with some impact, good bat speed for his size/age with more to come. 7.85 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, gets to his spots well and has good lower half quickness, longer exchanges into his throws, low 3/4's arm slot and makes accurate throws. Also pitched, works exclusively from the stretch from the first base side of the rubber, high and compact leg raise, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, was mostly straight and thrown for strikes. Threw a soft curveball as his breaking ball, also mixed in a knuckleball which was pretty good and a usuable pitch.
