2024 Puerto Rico National Showcases Qualifier
Gerant Vega is a 2025 LHP/OF with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Barceloneta, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Medium build with plenty of room to get stronger. High leg raise delivery with some back lean over his back leg, high 3/4's arm slot, will vary his timing to throw off hitters. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, moves it around the zone and gets some arm side life. Change up was his best pitch, lowers his arm slot a bit but maintains his arm speed well and creates sink and deception, uses his change up frequently and confidently. Also threw a sweeping curveball for another look. Mixed his pitches well and competed. 7.53 runner in the sixty. Plays the outfield when not on the mound. Right handed hitter, has a short line drive swing from a slightly open stance, rotational swing mechanics, flashed some strength at contact. Very good student.
