Matthew Carano is a 2026 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from San Ramon, CA who attends California. Features a lean build with room to add. Ran a 7.95 60-yard dash. Primary catcher. Uses a side saddle setup behind the plate. Replaces feet well out of crouch allowing for quality ground to be gained. Displayed a consistent transfer into accurate throws. Recorded a 1.94 pop time. Showed good athleticism during infield drills as well. Footwork allows for the routine play to be made. Range profiles at a corner spot better. Long arm action throws produce solid carry. Threw 76 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes a wide base setup with a high back elbow. Stays athletic in the box. Showed good bat speed on short, compact path. Flashed the ability to generate some power to the pullside when on time. Frame hints to more power down the line. Also threw the ball well on the mound. Righthanded pitcher. Shows good athleticism down the mound using a simple delivery. Will throw with a quick tempo. Has good arm speed throwing out of a 3/4 slot. The fastball sat 72-76 mph. Has the ability to throw it for strikes often. Will move the pitch in and out. Arm speed allowed the ball to jump out of the hand and generate whiffs. Paired the heater with a mid-60’s curveball and upper-60’s changeup. Good pitchability allows all three to be mixed well. Intriguing young arm with a solid foundation on the mound.
