Max Balseca is a 2028 C/RHP/3B with a 5-3 130 lb. frame from New Milford, NJ who attends Undecided. Small, slender frame with plenty of time and room to physically mature. Recorded a 9.60 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary catcher that received from wider, side-saddle stance with developing catch-and-throw skill set. Incorporates uphill movements out of the crouch, while using deliberate footwork into the throwing position. Recorded developing arm strength up t0 57 mph from behind the plate during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Starts slightly crouched and uses a chest high leg lift into balance, while working down the slope with a shorter stride out to foot strike. Fastball worked in the low-60s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 63 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Showed ability to command the outer half fairly well and mixed in slow, big breaking curveball as his go-to secondary offering. Will continue to improve with additional velocity and mechanical adjustments. Also took part in the infield portion of drills, where he showed a developing defensive skill set. Moved deliberately from side-to-side, showed a deep funnel to field and produced throws up to 59 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that hits from wider, open base with tight hands, a high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Whole field approach with contact oriented swing and flatter swing path. Developing bat-to-ball skills that will continue to improve with additional strength and proper swing adjustments.
