Azael Avalos is a 2028 RHP/3B with a 5-8 165 lb. frame from Lincoln, CA who attends Whitney. Features a sturdy build that shows present strength over athleticism currently. Ran an 8.04 60-yd dash. Defensively, he showed an understanding of the fundamentals in the INF where he exhibited solid hands, avg. feet and an accurate arm that flashed some strength across the diamond. Solid corner projection right now. At the plate, he sits in a narrow base with a real quick toe tap trigger. His hands and barrel work more direct to the baseball with consistent impact under the baseball. Drifted onto his front side at times with consistent intent to catch the baseball out front. On the mound, it was an impressive outing where he worked exclusively from the stretch and showed a simple and repeatable operation. The arm works with a slight stab in the back but works clean to a ¾ slot. He ran his fastball up to 77 and his slider showed upside with present sharpness and late bite to it. Also flashed a quality changeup he was able to kill spin on. Named to top prospects list.
