Blake Lane is a 2027 SS/RHP/C with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Dryden, MI who attends Almont. A lean frame and medium build with some length throughout. Room to keep filling out moving forward. Ran a 7.13 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who moved well at the position with some feel for the footwork and clean backhand actions. He carried throws across the diamond at 74 mph with feel to field it up the middle and some snatch to the hands. He threw 80 mph from the outfield with shuffles into his throws, feel for a compact release, and food fundamentals. He had some accuracy on his throws, carrying well, with the ball coming out of the arm slot well. Had an over-the-top arm slot. Good intent and actions. Took BP as a left-handed hitter with an upright stance and leg lift trigger working into the swing. He had slightly open feet and higher-set hands, with the back elbow up. He showed good strength to drive the ball well, being on-time and on the barrel often during the round. He was shorter to it and able to turn through contact. Linear path with consistency throughout the round. Also took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher with a leg lift to the waist with a feel to push down the slope and land on line. He had a medium arm action with an on-line release from an over-the-top arm slot. He kept the arm on a good path through it. Showed a fastball into the mid-70s with a feel for a breaking ball that had a 12-6 shape and depth. He also flashed a changeup at 68 mph, killing spin on it well. Attacked lefties well and mixed all three pitches well, showing some pitchability during his outing on the mound. Great student.
