LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2024 Sunshine Midwest Prospect Gateway
Pitching:
- Reid used a sidestep delivery into a higher three-quarters release. Focus on creating some drive down the slope by pushing off the rubber with the back foot and staying in-line with home plate.
- Worked with an all-fastball attack in the low- to mid-50s. Continue to work on releasing out in front to create some extension through it; this will tighten the "miss" window and allow for more refined control in and around the strike zone.
- Continued arm strength will come with age/maturity.
Hitting:
- Works from an even base and squared stance. Had a level bat path working through contact. Focus on trying to work on the same path to match planes with pitches. This will allow for some more line drives and contact in the air.
- At times, he was longer to contact with the barrel. Focus on taking the barrel to the baseball with some intent and quickness. A good cue to think about is "beat the ball to the spot," taking the barrel to the contact point to be on time to do damage.
- Continued impact strength and added bat speed will come with age and maturity.
Infield:
- He showed some feel to shuffle through the transfer into the throws; however, at times, the transfer was slower through the funnel. Focus on tightening up the transfer to stay on-line with the target and around the chest as it will allow him to get the ball out quicker.
- Showed active footwork with some energy to the feet working on the infield. Focus on taking the momentum toward the bag. It will allow for more direct throws across the diamond.
- Continued arm strength across the diamond will come with age/maturity.
