2024 EC Lumberjack's Workout Showcase
Mason Gatchalian is a 2027 1B/RHP, 3B, OF with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Manorville, NY who attends Eastport-South Manor. High waisted frame with some length to his levers and plenty of room to add strength. Recorded a 7.45 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary first baseman with a clean funnel out in-front, agility around the bag and accurate throws up to 80 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked in. the 79-81 mph throughout his outing. Moved athletically into balance, while maintaining intent with his lower half down the slope. Showed the ability to stay on-top of the baseball, created some sink to the fastball and used his two-seamer effectively to the arm-side. Displayed the aptitude to kill spin on his change, slightly changes arm slot but shows some natural arm-side fade to it. Still developing consistency with breaking ball, as it flashes potential swing-and-miss capabilities when thrown out in-front and with conviction. Took part in the outfield portion of the workout as well, where he used his arm strength to deliver accurate throws up to 75 mph during drills. Developing footwork with some feel for the position, stays behind the baseball and maintains momentum into release. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even base with a tight hand set and toe-tap trigger. Creates some separation with walkway loading mechanism, impacts it loudly when on-time. Gap-to-gap approach with strength at impact, will continue to improve with proper timing adjustments. Intriguing two-way projection with continued refinements and additional strength. Good Student.
