2025 PG Puerto Rico National Showcase Qualifier
Derek Y. Rivera Seda is a 2029 OF/RHP/MIF with a 5-4 115 lb. frame from Yauco, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Slender young athletic build. 7.07 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, charges the ball well and has some idea with his footwork, big gather into his release with an over the top arm action that creates some young carry. Also worked out in the infield, moves well and fields cleanly on the move, best charging and working through the ball, made accurate throws. Right handed hitter, starts from a narrow stance with an inward toe tap trigger, gets to his front side early and gets the barrel out, soft pull side contact. Also pitched, works exclusively from the stretch with a high leg raise delivery and a high 3/4's arm slot, throws off his front side properly and has been coached up. Fastball was in the mid-70's and topped out at 78 mph. Change up was his best secondary pitch although he dropped his release point to create fade. Still developing the ability to spin the ball. Promising young athlete if he can continue to grow. Excellent student.
