Alex Wiesner is a very lean and lanky 2006 left handed pitcher from Chesapeake, Virginia. His 6'4", 180 lb. frame is loose and he appears to have extra long arms. Wiesner throws from a low ¾ release point with a full, long arm circle in back and good extension in front. It’s an easy, low stress and repeatable delivery. Wiesner’s fastball topped out at 84 mph with some running action, and he did a good job of keeping the ball low in the strike zone. He’ll also turn over his fastball at 77-78 mph occasionally. Wiesner threw mostly fastballs, but worked in a couple of 71 mph curveballs that had good depth and a wide sweeping action. Everything about Wiesner’s physical build, delivery and arm action point to a pitching prospect who’s going to add velocity in the future.
