Matthew Daines is a 2028 SS/RHP/OF with a 5-8 130 lb. frame from Glendora, CA who attends Damien. Young, athletic frame with a lean build and room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.76 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, plays back on the ball but shows athleticism once under way, clean hands with a deliberate tempo to gather, accurate throws across the diamond with developing strength. Fields the ball out front in the outfield, creates some momentum with a crow hop moving to and through release, shows accuracy to the intended base. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even base and a square stance in the box, utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Direct hand path to the ball from launch and holds his angles well in swing, handles the barrel and enjoyed a three-hit game on Saturday in live action. Works on a line and sprays it around the field well, fundamentally sound swing, consistent linear path. Excellent student.
