2007 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Chris Booth is a 2008 OF/P with a 6'4'', 180 lb. frame from Independence, MO who attends Truman HS. He has an angular, loose build with lots of projection and easy athletic actions. Booth is a 6.78 runner who showed very good range in centerfield, making numerous nice running catches both coming in and going back. His arm strength is also a plus when he stays on top of his throws, he tends to get on the side occasionally which results in a big tail as the ball comes into the infield. Offensively, Booth hits from a relaxed, balanced stance and has a smooth swing with nice bat speed. Booth uses his hands well to hit and the ball comes off his bat hard. He has a line drive swing plane and has some projectable power when he gets stronger. Booth also took a turn on the mound and threw 80 mph from the left side with a 73 mph slider. Booth is quality athlete who has easy actions and is going to keep getting better as he gets stronger. He could be a really good one down the road. Follow closely.
