McClain Maupin is a 2029 C/MIF with a 5-9 135 lb. frame from McGregor, TX who attends Live Oak Classical School. Slender young build with lots of time and room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, sets up in a spread and open stance with a low leg raise timer, lots of moving parts in his load to time up, rotational swing mechanics, swings hard, tends to pull off early, mostly pull side contact, looking to create some lift. 7.25 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up in a high square stance, tends to stand straight up to throw, will continue to develop his footwork and ability to move into his throws, arm worked well with a compact and quick release, more arm strength there immediately with improved lower half actions. Also worked out in the infield and showed his athleticism well, moves well laterally and gets his glove down early and in good position, makes accurate throws and can change his arm slots. Can see this developing further in the middle infield.
