2024 High School All State Select Championship (2027-2028 Grads)
Tyler Carlson is a 2027 OF/RHP/1B/3B with a 6-3 194 lb. frame from Savage, MN who attends Prior Lake. Features a taller build with some present strength and physicality. Ran a 7.17 60-yd dash. In the OF, it's developing actions right now. Slower/methodical approach and process to the baseball. Fields it slightly back and off to the side but everything was clean at reception. Used 2-3 extra shuffles and a glove tap before working into throws. Showed a longer arm action where he got on top of most of his throws with a few uphill displaying avg. strength for his level with accuracy to the bag. In the INF, worked out at SS and at 1B. Taller/upright mover to and through the baseball with avg. footpseed and quickness. Fielded every GB clean but plunged into posture later in his actions. Extra shuffle here as well before getting off throws that maintained same longer action with decent strength but minimal accuracy. Did show feel around some of his actions/footwork around the bag at 1st. Profiles to the corners. At the plate, sits in a noticeably wide base. Uses a toe tap trigger with some sway into his backside before drifting forward. More of a direct barrel path through the zone that levels out at finish. Inconsistent barrel feel throughout his round but showed flashes of above avg. strength and bat speed when he caught it out front where he impacted a couple hard LDs into the gaps. On the mound, it's a relatively simple operation. He side steps into a smaller belt high leg lift. Hands break at the belt as he works down with a smaller drop in driveleg while landing on-line with avg. length stride. Arm worked loose into a medium circle out the glove and up to a normal 3/4 release with avg. armspeed. Ran the FB up to 80, living in the upper 70s that had some shorter running and downward action. Mixed in a bigger CB in the low 70s that had some two-plane tilt and developing spin but was able to land for strikes. Efficient and productive outing on the mound.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
