Nicholas Thoms is a 2031 C/RHP/MIF/OF with a 5-1 103 lb. frame from Rumson, NJ who attends Rumson Fair Haven. Young, smaller frame with plenty of time and room to physically mature. Recorded a 8.68 second sixty. Primary catcher with a developing defensive skill set. Receives from a one-knee setup, gains some ground out of the crouch and maintains a direct midline transfer into release. Produced fairly accurate throws up to 58 mph during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with a big leg lift and medium stride length out to foot strike. Fastball worked in the upper-50s for the majority of his outing and peaked at 60 mph in this look from a high three-quarters arm slot. Developing command, will need add a second pitch to become viable option. Took part in both the infield and outfield portion of the defensive workout, where he showed some athleticism throughout the fielding process. Works through the baseball with good momentum and pace. Displayed a clean funnel, maintains momentum into release and delivered accurate throws up to 64 mph during both drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even, bent knee stance with a tight hand set and small leg lift trigger. Simple, compact stroke with length through the hitting zone and feel for the barrel. Worked the middle-of-the field effectively with the ability to turn over the barrel on the inner-half. Tons of projection as he physically matures.
