Cooper Johnson is a 2027 RHP/1B/OF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Frankfort, IL who attends Lincoln Way East. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength, additional room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.68 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, works under control with nice tempo throughout, generates nice extension coming down the mound and shows a medium length arm stroke through the back to a three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 86 mph with low spin rates and sinking life with bore to the lower parts of the zone. Curveball shows true 12-6 shape up to 66 mph, can continue to refine with maintained arm speed, shape plays well through the zone. Flashed a changeup at 71 mph, utilized it for a strike out, sells it well. Worked out in the infield, corner profile, glove works well out front at the baseball, will continue to refine overall actions coming through the ball. Right-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and a high back elbow in the box; utilizes a short stride moving into contact and remains direct to the baseball with the barrel. Hard contact to the middle of the field, shows strength off of the barrel when on time and in sync. Very good student. Named to the Great Lakes High School All-State Games Top Prospect List.
