Heath Cheverton is a 2006 shortstop/second baseman from Karns High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a 5'10'', 170 lb. frame. Cheverton has good speed and quickness and ran a 7.11 sixty in wet conditions. Defensively he has soft hands and good actions with nice footwork. Cheverton showed good range to both sides with athleticism and body control. He also showed a solid arm across the diamond with good accuracy. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with quick hands and a short bat path to the ball. At times he rotates his hips early and causing him to commit to pitches early and loose some strength in his swing. Cheverton shows adjustability with his hands when he stays closed, and has the ability to use the whole field. Cheverton is a good instinctive player who plays hard.
