Joel Leichty is a 2009 RHP/SS/3B with a 6'2'', 160 lb. frame from Mason, OH who attends Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. He has a lanky, long armed build with some projection. Leichty throws from a fast paced, high energy delivery and keeps his arms and legs compact to his core. His fastball was up to 79 mph and were mostly straight and up the strike zone. His best pitch was a 68 mph curveball that had some sharpness and 2-plane break to it. We didn't see a change up. Leichty will be more effective working down in the strike zone. He should continue to add velocity as he gets stronger. Leichty looked like he had some potential at the plate. He hits from a low hand set up and has some hand quickness and bat speed from a rotational upper half swing. The ball came off his bat pretty well.
