Ryan Houghtalen is a 2008 RHP from McQuaid Jesuit HS, residing in Penfield, New York, with a 6'1"/190 pound frame. Ryan has a solid frame. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with long arm action. Houghtalen has good arm speed with solid mechanics and the ball comes out of his hand well. He uses some effort in his delivery and will fall off in his delivery. Ryan has a fastball at 89 mph with life and mixes in a 77 mph curveball. His changeup has sink and fade at 77 mph and he throws it with good arm speed. His changeup is his better off speed pitch and he needs to tighten up his curveball. Houghtalen hits from an open stance and closes well. He has solid bat speed with strength in his swing and solid power potential. Ryan is a good student.
