CJ Conklin is a 2027 RHP/1B with a 6-4 205 lb. frame from Meridian, ID who attends Owyhee. Ran an 8.01 sixty-yard dash. Possessing a big and projectable right-handed frame, Conklin showcased at first base during defensive workouts, utilizing quick and efficient actions in the lower half. He recorded throws across the diamond up to 69 mph. At the plate, Conklin starts with an even base and high hands, working into a simple leg load from a strong frame. He then works through a slightly upward bat path with present speed in the barrel and a line drive approach to multiple fields. Conklin recorded exit velocities up to 77 mph. On the mound, Conklin worked with a three-pitch mix, using a simple and repeatable operation that includes a medium arm action and a three-quarters slot. He ran the fastball up to 74, pounding the zone and working to the corners. Conklin works in a pair of secondaries, starting with a tight slider with late vertical bite at times. He also showcased the ability to turn over a mid-60s change-up. Terrific student.
