2004 Indoor Pitchers/Catchers Showcase
Jacob Parrish: Parrish is a strong, very well proportioned senior right hander from New Mexico with an infectious smile and nice athletic actions. At 6-5, 210 lbs already, he could become some kind of strong in the future. Parrish throws from an unusual and deceptive 2-part delivery where he throws his left leg out aggressively towards the hitter as he starts forward from his balance point. His athletic ability keeps him balanced and he throws from a good downward plane with his pitches. Parrish’s fastball topped out at 87 mph and the good plane combined with some sinking action will make it hard for hitters to lift this pitch. Parrish’s curveball was 71-74 and had a smaller, late slider-type break to it. Parrish swung the bat pretty well in the cage and would be interesting to see hit on a full field. With some adjustments in his stride and landing, he'll be throwing in the 90s. His arm works very nice. Jacob is a good student and has yet to sign with a college.
