Jacob Walkowicz is a 2006 catcher from Loveland, Colorado. He is one of the hardest working and enthusiastic players we’ve seen all year, or really any year for that matter. This young man loves to play and is into the game every minute of every inning. He’s the type of catcher who runs back to the backstop to get foul balls instead of waiting for the on deck hitter to wander over. Walkowicz has a short, very strong build that’s seen plenty of weight work. He has short actions both behind the plate and with a bat in his hand. Walkowicz showed some gap to gap power when he gets his hands extended and makes consistent contact. Defensively, he keeps his pop times in the 2.0 to 2.1 range and works well with pitchers. Any coach is going to enjoy and benefit from having Walkowicz on his team.
