Ethan Reed is a 2028 RHP/SS/OF with a 5-11, 145 lb. frame from Sparta, KY who attends Gallatin County High School. He has a lean, medium build with plenty of room for added strength and physical maturity over time. He is an 8.02 runner in the sixty. A right-handed pitcher who works from a full windup, setting his hands away from the body and using a short stride down the mound with a tall, upright finish. He pitches with intent, consistently working to the outer half and inducing weak contact. His fastball have slight arm-side run and he shows feel for the strike zone, working more as a pitcher than a thrower. There's definite upside here, especially as he continues to refine his lower-half mechanics and learns to generate more power from his base. With physical development and small mechanical adjustments, he has the tools to make a jump. In the infield, he shows the foundation of athleticism but is still gaining confidence in his actions. He occasionally plays too carefully, waiting back on ground balls and showing tentative hands, especially on backhands. Improving first-step quickness and hand trust will be key to increasing his fluidity and range. As he grows stronger and more assertive, he could settle into a corner infield role. At the plate, he hits right-handed from a wide, inline stance with a quick heel lift trigger. He loads by dropping his hands, which can create some length and impact his timing. While he shows some barrel awareness, he cuts off his swing early and rolls over pitches time-to-time. Simplifying the hand load and staying connected through the zone will help him generate more consistent contact. Good student with a 3.4 GPA.
