Jayden Mendez is a 2029 C/RHP/UT with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Fontana, CA who attends A.B.Miller. Features smaller, wiry build. Ran a 7.28 60-yard dash. Primary catcher. Uses a side saddle setup. Shows a clean transfer with sound fundamentals into release. Flashed arm strength, recording a 1.96 pop time. Worked out in the outfield. Slow approach into the catchpoint. Developing intent and quickness to the feet. Reached 74 mph during workouts. Right-handed hitters. Utilizes an even base stance with a simple trigger. Swings on a direct path to contact. Stays inside the baseball and behind it well. Approach works through the middle of the field. More impact to come as more strength is added. Right-handed pitcher. Uses a semi-windup delivery with drop and drive mechanics. Hides the ball well with a short arm action into a 3/4 slot release. Fastball worked 72-76 mph with heavy armside run. Can generate ground balls often when in the zone. Curveball at 56-57 mph showed 12-6 action. Still developing consistent bite on the offering.
