Oliver is a well put together 6'2/185 and he's athletic. He showed good ability in the infield and a quick bat. He has DI potential as a player, but we like him best on the mound. Oliver was up to 88 mph in Lincoln and looks like he has more in him. He has a good feel for the mound and smooth arm action. He showed a real nice curveball around 74 mph with tight rotation and downward biting action. He also threw what we would call more of a slider at around 77 mph. His changeup looks promising, he threw it about 76 mph. Looked like he has command of all his pitches. He gets a good downward plane on all his pitches, but the fastball looked a bit straight in Lincoln. We're not sure if he threw many 2-seamers for more life on the heater. He definitely has a future at the highest levels of college baseball and possibly beyond. Look for him to be recruited by the top baseball/academic schools because James has a 4.17 GPA, a 1280 SAT, and a 29 ACT.
