Wesley Perkins is a 2029 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-9 140 lb. frame from Vineland, NJ who attends Cumberland Co Tech. Small and slender young build with lots of time and room to get stronger. 7.57 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has a good first step and projectable quickness and range, snatchy glove work and made the plays, can get off balance into his throws as he develops his footwork, young arm strength. Right handed hitter, sets up in a narrow and slightly open stance with a low leg raise timer, repeated his swing and timing well, middle of the field line drive contact, bat speed will continue to improve with additional strength. Took a turn on the mound, works from a full wind up with good balance and direction to his delivery, 3/4's arm slot, very repeatable mechanics. Fastball was mostly in the upper 60's and topped out at 70 mph. Maintained arm speed well on his change up with some fade; also threw a soft curveball. Very good student.
