Jason Cutlip -- Cutlip is a 5-11 junior infielder from Florida with a nice set of raw tools. Factoring in the wet, spongy turf in Fort Myers, Cutlip was close to big league average in speed in the 60. We would guess him to be a 6.7 type runner in normal conditions. He has good strength in his upper body and hands and looks like he works hard at being strong. Cutlip hits from a tall stance and a no load, no stride approach. We don’t think this is a good hitting style for him as he has enough strength to get the bat head moving with wood and this just makes his swing longer and gives him timing problems. Cutlip has the strength and bat speed to hit well at the next level if he can make some adjustments. Defensively, Cutlip profiles out to third base if not SS. His actions are OK for the middle of the field but he has the arm strength and athletic ability for third. He also catches which is another possibility. Cutlip is a strong student.
