Lucas Herrell is a 2027 RHP/IF with a 5-11 167 lb. frame from Bettendorf, IA who attends Pleasant Valley. Medium build with lots of room to continue to get stronger. Works from a side step/leg raise delivery with some coil over the rubber, moves down the mound well, has a clean 3/4's arm slot and release. Fastball was in the low 80's with good sinking action down and some ride up that missed barrels. Curveball had some 11/5 shape and depth and flashed some bite. Firm change-up had some fading depth with a pronated release. Mixed his pitches well and threw strikes, starter's profile on the mound. 7.30 runner in the sixty. Worked out in both the infield and outfield, showed some feel for the approach, working through the ball well, with one-hop accuracy on his throws from the outfield. He had some looseness to the arm and kept throws on-line. Threw 81 mph from the outfield and threw 77 mph across the infield. On the infield, he showed some feel for the backhand, and the ball came out well, with clear arm strength across. He had a compact release with some strength and carry across the field. Took BP as a right-handed hitter with a narrow base, high hands, and lower back elbow. He stood more upright in the box and used a hanging leg lift trigger, working into contact with a good move forward, working into impact. He showed some strength off the barrel and produced plenty of hard-hit balls to the pull-side gap and up the middle. He created some leverage and was able to drive the ball well, showing some length through it.
