2024 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Patrick O Shaughnessy is a 2028 RHP/1B with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Matthews, NC who attends Butler. A bigger frame and build with some strength throughout. Ran a 7.93 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher who worked from the stretch with a belt-high leg lift, using a smaller stride down the mound. Showed tall-and-fall mechanics with a three-quarters arm slot and more compact arm action. He has a shorter arm action and clean release. He worked up into the low-70s on the fastball. He showed an 11-5 shape on the breaking ball as well. Lived around the plate during his outing on the mound. Took BP as a right-handed hitter who has an open base as he sets up in the box. He has a longer stroke through contact with some feel to work to the opposite field. He was able to work oppo and stay through it well throughout his round of BP swings. He worked out at first base with a longer arm swing through the back, throwing 67 mph across the diamond. He had some traits that project moving around the bag with good intent to his operation. Excellent student.
