Jacob Segar is a 2029 3B/1B/OF with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Tappahannock, VA who attends Essex. Thicker build with plenty of time to add more strength. Primary third baseman, works through the baseball at a deliberate pace and tends to show the glove late. Displayed developing athleticism and lateral agility at the position. Takes a shorter arm action prior to release. Secondary pitcher, utilizes a hybrid delivery from the first base side of the rubber. Side-steps into a belt-high leg lift before working into an inline arm path. Accelerates into a well-repeated ¾ arm slot. Located his fastball well throughout the zone, topping it out at 72 mph. Mixed in a softer two-plane breaking ball at 61 mph. Right-handed batter, starts in an even stance with a high hand set-up. Utilizes a simple stride for timing before working into a slightly uphill bat path. Gets the barrel on-plane and then tends to drag it through the zone. Turns quickly to the point of contact and then loses his strength at impact. Developing bat speed and feel for the barrel. Posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. Great student.
