John Cody is a 6'3", 180 lb. pitcher/outfielder from Patchogue, New York, who showed great potential as both a pitcher and position player. He ran a 4.43 home to first time, and showed arm strength with 86 mph throws with pro level carry and very athletic and quick releases. On the mound he had an 83-86 mph fastball, 72-76 mph curveball, and a 75 mph change up. John has a very good pitcher's body and throws from a high 3/4 release point. His fastball is "heavy" and has nice sink to it. Cody tended to throw through his curveball, and had better spin and bite at the lower velocities. Cody is a right handed hitter with a medium to wide stance and good balance. He shows above average bat speed and hand strength, and attacks the ball well. He has a line drive swing plane with occasional lift on low balls. Cody could have big time power down the road. He is an excellent student.
