Reilly Hovis is a 2012 RHP/3B with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Gastonia, NC who attends Forestview HS. Solid athletic build, room to get stronger. Very simple turn and throw delivery, slow pace, high 3/4's arm slot, accelerates to the plate, bit hard on his front side.. Upper 80's fastball, touched 90 mph, tends to pitch up with his fastball due to the hard front side, will drop down low 3/4's at 87 mph for more movement at times. Gets over curveball well, sharp downer break and good depth, has nice fade to change up. Some strength with the bat, line drive swing plane, solid mid field contact, 7.08 runner. Excellent student, verbal commitment to North Carolina.
